Faking a fireplace mantle

I don’t have a fireplace in my living room, although I do have one in the basement.
I used my cubby bookcase as one instead.
Improvise and use what you got :) I’m still working on what to do with the cubbys.
I’m linking to Stephanie Lynn’s Sunday Showcase – head on over :)

  1. Love your vignette. It is wonderful. Such a great idea. Hugs, Marty

  2. I just love those chairs Mel ;) And those pillows....Mmmmmmmm

I like the idea of the "makeshift" fireplace mantle. I have a bookshelf I want to use when we move. I would do it now but I have a fish tank I have to get rid of first. Cant take the fish with us, I am secretly excited to get rid of them. They are hubbys, and I end up cleaning and doing the maintenance of them. He just likes to feed them I think :)

Love the purse in the previous post. Its Fab ;) I to, have a love of purses. I have about 12 I rotate them here and there. It kinda funny, my fav one is a gucci knockoff I got in Rome :) hehe

  3. Digging those chairs Mel!

  4. Love it! I use my bookcase too :)

  5. great idea. i use my half moon table in my hallway. i love decorating it, and it totally works as a faux mantle!

  6. ....and I see the little mouse sneaking through the bookcase too! LOVE the vignette, it's very fresh.

  7. Love it!! Sometimes you just have to make mantels out of whatever you can! :) Great attitude and great post!

  8. Yepper depper do Mel...thanks for your input..I concur. Congrats on the 100...that is an awesome milestone! Quality baby!

  9. Great idea! I'm sure once you figure it out, it will look great. I say throw some Halloween in there. I so live by the use what you got motto!

Oh I'm a purse freak myself, so I agree with doing a little touch-up! Cute find and free spray paint, awesome!

  10. I like it, that's a really good idea I'm gonna have to try that. I love mantles but my current house does not have one. I love your chairs by the way.

I had to do a standing ovation when I realized I was your 101th follower, yay! I almost heard applause behind me.

Hope you have a wonderful day!
