I’ve been off work since the 22nd and I’ve done very little, in fact I’m in a bit of a decor slump :)
I want to do something to this humongo frame but since I have no artistic capability, it sits blank.
I did manage to get a couple of things done though
I removed the toilet roll holder from my bathroom. Who designs houses anyway? You practically had to do an about face to get paper while sitting on the throne :) Of course removing it meant that I had to repaint the wall.
While I had the paint out, I repainted the powder room off of my bedroom.
It’s now a much more soothing shade of blue. I got rid of the stand behind the toilet in favour of these two shelves that I got while junkin’ in the summer.
I have distressed one of them to see which I like better and I still can’t decide. Which do you prefer?
And I got some new bedside lamps. I love the lamps that I had, but they take up valuable space on my side tables. I bought the lamps for $6 each and the shades for $1.50 each. I have to come up with a way to cover the cords as the thrift store were fresh out of covers :)
Today is my big bubba’s 18th birthday! I know, I know, hard to believe that a woman this young looking can have an 18 year old. Ha ha. We are going out for dinner tonight and his choice is Korean bbq, of which none of us have ever tried, it should be interesting.
Here he is with my daughter. They really do adore one another and get along so well.
I’ll see you all in 2012!
I prefer the distressed shelf and bracket in the second bathroom.
ReplyDeleteGreat taste in pillow coverings as I currently have 3 of the Alvine Flora Cushion covers from Ikea on our bed for a bit of punch this time of year.
Thanks for stopping in to my blog as well,
Kristy @ 4 the love of WOOD
that big frame is SOOOO cool! i am sure you will come up with something awesome.
ReplyDeleteand i like the shelves lightly distressed. it brings out the details!
have fun at the korean bbq place! i am sure it will be yummy!!!
Love the bottom distressed shelf. It looks great. The little shelves are too cute. I'm so jealous of your awesome deal on those lights.
ReplyDeleteBummer bout the thrift store being out :-) lol. Homedepot (as well as the other home improvement stores) sells a plastic casing that you can put the cord into. It mounts to the wall. You can even paint it to match the wall color.
Oh- and the pillows are awesome too!
Geesh! If that's a slump I need one! Love your colors! Happy 18th to your son! Hope dinner was great!
ReplyDeleteI like the non-distressed look for the bathroom. I just like everything to have a clean look for baths. The mirror frame has tons of potential, I know you'll find something great to do with it! Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI really wish I could bring you along when I pick out paint colors, you do a great job! I love the shelves above the throne, I like the distressed one better but they both look awesome. Your kids are adorable, and you do look too young to have an 18-year old!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful and happy New Year!
great job Mel, can't tell at all the tissue holder was there and definately the distressed shelf...it seems more your style. :) you know classy.
ReplyDeleteFor being in a slump you are definately rocking it!
You are to funny thinking you are in a slump. Look at all you've accomplished!
ReplyDeleteLove that big frame, I know something cool will come to you! Loving the color of the bathroom and for sure the distressed shelf is the way to go !
Your kiddos are too cute. Your son and my son share a birthday! Hope he had a good one!
Happy New Year my friend!
Meg
Not much of a slump, lady! Until you come up with a cover for the lamp wires, maybe you could just tack them to the back of the headboard so they're not as exposed?
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the distressed shelf the best. :-)
