A headboard, in the dining room?

I am working on redecorating my daughters bedroom, and I had the headboard that I used in her room up for sale. As I brought it downstairs to go to it’s buyer, it struck me that it might work behind the bench in the dining room!

Maybe a different colour?  It’s a little wide for the bench, so the legs are visible, and the window is not centered on the wall, which drives me bonkers, but what do you think?

  1. I think it's a perfect headboard for that use. Maybe cover the lower part of it with beadboard to match your bench? Gorgeous headboard!!

  3. Yes! Works for me! Once you paint it, it will look like it was born there! Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. I'm not sure... I like the whole behind a bench deal but maybe you can showcase it in your foyer or something. looks lost behind the table just a little...

  8. Nice focal point. Gets you looking outside through the window.

  9. I look at the pictures before I read the comments. The very first thing I noticed was that the window and the headboard were not balanced. With that said, I LOVE it there. Its so whimsical and just perfect there. Maybe you could balance the window issue by putting some large pillows on the heavy side and see if it helps to balance it. Or, can the whole bench and headboard be pushed just a little to the right? If it was just a little bit more to the right it wouldnt be quite so noticeable that its off center. I have a hard time with off center things. Love it though.

  10. Try floor to ceiling curtains on either side of the window inbetween the recess behind the bench. I think it would balance the window space that is bothering you. Just a thought.

  11. Personally, I think it's just too much for this room. I love the board and batten walls behind it but for some reason, it just doesn't 'fit' to me. I do agree that a more elaborate window treatment would be a great addition.
That headboard is gorgeous, by the way.

  13. Don't you just love when someone leaves a negative comment, but doesn't have the guts to leave their identity? I love the headboard and the color it is now. The window would drive me crazy too. Not sure if you have room to pull the bench away from the wall and do curtain panels to balance out the window? That might work? Love to see what you come up with! I like the curves of the headboard paired with the straight lines of the rest of the room.

  14. Hi Mel! I've missed you! I love the headboard as a bench back and I think it looks awesome with the light coming through it, but I agree that it would drive me crazy being off center. Of course I love the color!

  15. I agree...it adds a touch of whimsy and character to the bench. I seriously love the color as well. I also have one of those imperfectly placed windows and it drives me nuts when I try to decorate around it.

So glad you are back, you were missed.
