Bully is now a member of the family
I gallery wrapped the tea towel around an existing frame. I think the punch of colour is what I needed here as well as it bringing in some whimsical fun to the room.

Something new in the powder room
When I updated the powder room, I installed this sweet little shelf and decorated it with my thrift store finds.
The other day my daughter got up off of the throne, hit the shelf and everything came tumbling down. Fortunately nothing broke, but I was left with a problem; If I rehang it, it’s only going to happen again.
I love the frame above it as well as the P (for powder room), so I had to come up with something that would sit flush against the wall.
I used an old frame, the type that has all of the little windows to put photos in, and the photos you want to put in are always the wrong direction. I covered the back cardboard with some drop cloth, glued the frame to the glass and put the P on the glass.
Every room needs a bit of black :)
I’m going to make a roman blind for the window in here (sorry, room is too small to get a picture of it) with the curtain that I got at the GW yesterday.
problem solved.

Family silhouettes
I decided to pare down the empty frame wall in my living room and add our family silhouettes and initials. Of course I had to add in our two cats, my kids said so :)
I like how it’s simplified but now I’m wondering if it’s maybe too simplified and looks like a child's classroom. What do you think?
Do you remember the silver leaf table I bought for myself for Christmas? As much as I liked it, it was just too bulky for my space. I sold it on Craigslist in 2 hours for $45 more than what I paid for it. Woo hoo! I traded it in for this set of nesting tables, found on Craigslist for $30, so they were free! They are sleek and narrow and would be easy to refinish if I feel they need a change.
It’s a holiday here today, so I have some time to look through all of my favourite blogs.
Have a great Monday.

Bird on a wire
When I updated my kitchen last year, I removed the doors to the cupboards above the fridge. I painted the inside and added some trim, popped in a couple of decorative items and called it a day.
I decided to move a couple of my cloches in there, but it was still missing something. I cut out this bird on a wire image in vinyl and put it on my $1 thrifted plate. Now it’s better :)
The entire vignette is from thrifted items, probably not totalling more than $15.

Metallic table
I picked this table up for $10 early in December and it just sat, and sat, and sat.
I primed it with an oil based primer and then did a bazillion coats of metallic paint (a slight exaggeration, but it felt like that)
Then rubbed on and off some black paint mixed with glaze.
And now it has a home
It only had one of the original knobs, so I am on the hunt for some nice sparkly knobs.
Painting furniture is not my favourite thing to do, but it’s too cold here to spray paint. If it weren’t so cold, you can betcha that that is the route I would have taken.

Tree of Love
I had a really bad day today. So what’s a girl to do when she is upset? I retreat to my craft room and create something.
This was made from a free vector image that I found online. I used SCAL to trace it, then cut it out with my Cricut.
My last homage to Valentine’s Day. Yet another cushion :) Now I feel better.

Tweaking my fantle
One thing that never feels quite right to me is creating vignettes. I am simply not good at it. Maybe it’s because my depth perception is terrible, maybe I need some lessons.
I took some of my favourite things that were scattered all over and put them together. I tried to keep them all in the same colour range; black, silver, grey and white.
I like it better.
Earlier today I took this and it became this with the help of some metallic grey paint
Must get some new candles :)
