Now you see it, now you don’t–hiding a thermostat

Why are thermostats installed in the most ridiculous places; mine happens to be in my dining room.

While it may seem obvious to hang a frame over it, it requires free air movement along the top and sides so that’s not a viable option.

After 10 years I have finally come up with a way to disguise it that is really simple. I nailed a long nail in to the wall above the thermostat and hung the mirror on to the nail. Where’s that easy button when you need it!

It’s not centered because the thermostat is not centered, but close enough.
A big thank you to those that left encouraging comments on my kitchen rehab. I admit that I am a little nervous about all of the work, but I’ve given myself plenty of time to do it so I will just take it easy and get ‘er done.

  1. Looks great Mel! Mine is in a bad spot too, why is that?

I left a comment on your kitchen post but I don't know what happened to it! It's quite a list but knowing you, it will get done and look fabulous. I'll be watching and cheering you on. Did you pick which Allure flooring you are going to use? I do not recommend the snap together kind, my daughter helped me lay it and then a month or so later she worked on a volunteer project where they laid the sticky kind, and she said it was infinitely easier to work with. Just a thought!

    Good luck!

  8. I love the mirror! I don't like looking at my thermostat either, but DH keeps on changing the settings every morning and every night, even though is one of those you can scheduled! So, for his convenience I just leave it like that!
