The $24 craft room, done

I have been under the weather for the past few days, but between my naps (I’ve been sleeping a lot), I managed to get a few more things done to my craft room.
I made a slip cover for my Bromma footstool and a simple window valance from, you guessed it, burlap.
My iron found a place in an old crate that I found this summer.

Shelving that I got at the GW for $10, houses bins that hold all of my crafting supplies.
I was originally going to paint the desktop, but I know that I will be painting furniture and other things down here this winter, and it would just be something else to cover. The floor, pfffttt, I don’t care about it, it’s a mess and is going to stay as is for now.
It’s not a dream space, but it’s functional and organized Everything was gathered from around the house or friends. I like that.

Craft room progress

It’s not a lot of progress, but I can see it coming together.
I am putting this room together without spending any money, so I am using what I have or has been gifted to me.

Filing cabinet was gifted. I will be adding a skirt to the storage areas under the table to hide the junk.
Shelving will be installed on the wall above the sewing machine with storage bins. The work surface will be trimmed out and painted.

The brass on the fireplace will be painted out and the mirror installed properly. I am going to make a cover for the ironing board

The wardrobe was gifted to me. The closet will get proper doors. This is where I store all of my picture frames.

The bed was also gifted to me. Since this is the only window, I have to come up with a treatment that won’t block the little bit of light that comes in.
I haven’t spent a dime other than on the mdf to make the work surface.
Is it perfect, heck no, but it is functional and gives me a space to create without any distractions.

Creating a craft room, or how I plan on getting organized

Even though football is taking up way too much of my time, when I do get a moment to do something crafty, I panic.
My basement was reorganized a few months ago to help me get organized, but it didn’t work out as planned. Because I didn’t have great storage, after I finished a project, I didn’t know where to put my fabric/tools/paper/scissors, etc. 
I plan on fixing that.  Today I installed an L-shaped craft desk.  It will be trimmed out and painted, baskets added to house all of my “stuff”, shelves installed with more storage. My hope is that there is a place for everything and everything in it’s place.

And lest you think that I’m the only one in this house that likes to create, I am going to show you what my daughter (she is 12) has been working on. This is part of her Halloween costume. It’s a wolf head that she puts on over her head. She paid for the materials herself and other than some guidance, has done everything herself.

She still has the eyes to do and a few touch ups on the mouth. I’m very proud of her effort.
